The size of Gurbandi almonds is usually smaller in comparison with other almonds. Often called ‘chhoti giri’, Gurbandi almonds have great nutritional value. Cultivated organically in the Middle East and Afghanistan, Gurbandi almonds fall in the top 10% of the world’s total almonds. No pasteurization is done leaving them with their original crunchy and fresh taste.
Bittersweet in taste, Gurbandi has a high content of essential oil(40-50%) and protein but a moderate level of fat making it a great choice for people who are calorie conscious and yet want the energy-boosting healthy snack on the go. Some almonds can be bitter in taste but that does not undervalue their nutritional content encompassing a high level of antioxidant and anti-ageing properties. Gurbandi almonds can be consumed in many ways; raw, roasted or soaked overnight. Be it kheer, halwa, laddoo or shahi pulao, just add a handful of chopped (or whole) Chhoti giri to enhance the taste and display of the dishes.
